Baby Stuff for Nephew Tristan

I took a plain Bib and cut out a cute lizard design from some fabric.

Sewed it into place...

How cute is that? But it needed something more...

So I cut out a 'T' from the same fabric and sewed it down too!

I also put 'T's on a couple of baby blankets too and embellished them! One got green flannel fabric with colorful buttons, and the other got pale blue flannel and a couple green flannel leaves with one little yellow button!
These got sent off to my sister who is expecting Tristan to arrive any day now!

Yummy Serendipity 3's Frozen Hot Chocolate

So lately I've been enjoying time with my sister and we went on a road trip to Vegas and had a blast! We saw the Tournament of Kings went on the SpongeBob 4D ride that was awesome, oooh'd and ahhh'd over the Bellagio with it's water fountain shows, whimsical conservatory botanical garden, and stunning stone work (beautiful mosaics on the floors), and then had a famous (in the movie Serendipity) Frozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity 3!
I also found a couple ways that you, my friends, may also try this delicious dessert!

A Piece of Heritage: Mother's Day '09

This Mother's Day we met up with my Mother-In-Law, Gloria, so that we could give her the 'Piece of Heritage' which is her mother who died when she was born. She told me that her mother's name was Prudencia and that she always wondered what she looked like and if she looked like her mother at all. Then one day while visiting family someone gave her that photo, and she does look like her mother! It is the only photo she has of her, which is why I wanted to do something special with it.

Needless to say she was thrilled!

A Piece of Heritage: Finished

Here is a nice close up for you. Click on any of the photos to see them larger.

I added a gold/pearl button to the top button cluster because I felt I need to add that gold color up there too.

Then I finished off the floral motif by adding seed beads the the center of the spiderweb roses and added sweetheart roses in a sepia type color. I think that finishes it of nicely!

I put it in the frame but not with the glass because it is not a shadow-boxed type of frame.
Now it's all ready to give to my Mother-In-Law!

A Piece of Heritage

I've had this stashed away in my "To Do Basket" as an idea for a crazy quilt gift for my Mother-In-Law. It is her only photo of her mother (the woman sitting) who died when she was born. So this photo is very special to her. I've been wanting to do this project for some time and today I got the motivation to do it! I will not use the glass in the final project just the frame.

Here is the pieced project! I used colors of gold and I want it to have an old fashioned feel to it. The lace at the top is antique that Jill gave to me! I think it adds to the feel of it!

I also used a print and put the words "the greatest of these is love" in just the right spot! The silkie was made from the old photo that I fixed in Photo Shop since it had a big crack in it before and then Pat Winter made it into the silkie for me!

The Craziness of Crazy Quilting

My friend of 15 years, Christina, also came for a visit and wanted to learn crazy quilting, embroidery, and tatting (a lot to squeeze into one visit)! Here I am teaching her! We had a blast!

Here is Joyce working on her blocks and Madie keeping her company. Madie likes to be in the middle of all the action and would sit in the unoccupied chairs with us.

Here is Joyce and Christina busy working on their projects! There was lots of laughing and general giddiness! LOL Here is a video for proof of complete craziness! LOL Oh what fun it is to laugh and be silly while spending hours doing CQ together!

Joyce also made 2 large hearts to take home with her and work on! They are "his and hers" hearts.

Christina made a large 16 inch block that will become a pillow after embellishment.

She also made this green 8 inch block that will become a purse! Christina had to leave before completing the embellishments but I'm confident she will finish them on her own!
Here is Christina's first tatting!!! I'm SO SO SO proud!!! She picked up tatting pretty fast I'd say and I feel that she has learned enough that she will be able to continue learning on her own!

"The Craziness of Joyce" Tote Fashion Photo Shoot

Woo Hoo all finished!!! Joyce also added a pink Mother of Pearl cross with satin bow and 2 buttons in the connecting middle block corners. You can click on the photo to see it closer! She also used 2 different straps (pink and cream) to keep with the Crazy style of the tote. Also she used an aqua colored lining and a gold fabric for the back.

The Rest of Joyce's Blocks

Joyce revisited this block adding her signiture heart with base and treble clef's to shape it and a little flower too.

She worked the Musical Heart in stem stitch and french knots!

Three Down...Three To Go

Here is half of the "new line of crazy" by designer Joyce! LOL (Yes we were being silly and talking in random "designer" accents! LOL So feel free to read this post in similar fashion!)

First up is the lovely "70's" inspired block that shows off Rust, Dusty Purple, and Browns with a hint of Green!

Next we have the "Funky Fun with Red" block where polka dots and nature flirt shamelessly!

Last in our show today is "Midnight Elegance" if this block doesn't have you dreaming of a romantic stroll beneath the stars in a ball gown...nothing will!
And this ends our Fabulous Fashion Show for today...but wait it's not over...you will see more stunning fashions still to come!

(P.S. the pink and blue tatting that you see on the blue block is half my tatting to demonstrate for Joyce and the other half is her learning!!! I don't think anyone will be able to tell who's stitches are who's!)

A Crazy Quilt Kind of Day

My sister Joyce wanted to do some CQ and couldn't decide on only one color scheme so I suggested 6 six inch blocks that way she could do several different ones! She loved the idea! I only had to show her how to piece and she was off!

Here are the 6 blocks! She's wanting to sew them all together in this order and make a tote bag for school. She's working on embellishing them now. You can click on the photo to see them better.

As we were busy being "crazy" Madie kept curling up in the fabric bin! I would get her out and then a little bit later there she was again! LOL So I finally took a photo of her and then made a "bed" for her on a chair with a pillow and blanket and then she was happy and stayed out of the fabric bin! LOL
