Sweet Spring Simplicity Handbag

Today I finished a little handbag! I call it Sweet Spring Simplicity! I added it to my Etsy Shop for sale, I love it so much that it was hard to list for sale! LOL I guess that's just how it is when you love what you do right?

The bag is around 5 3/4 inches square, just the right size to hold a small wallet, cell phone, lipstick and maybe a few other necessities.

I used the same print fabric for the back that is in the center of the front crazy quilt block.

Pretty cream lining, lace handles, and a satin ribbon tie closure.

I added a floral seam treatment with stem stitch stems and lazy daisy leaves with silk ribbon in the center in straight and ribbon stitches. I used heart beads to form the flowers. I also added little metal bugs around the block

In this corner I uses some lace on a seam with pearls and a little lace butterfly with pistil stitch antennae, a seed pearl body, and running stitch flight path.

I hand sewed on some wedding lace that I had reclaimed, I just love it!

Blue Rose Brooch

Here is another Brooch for My Etsy Shop! I used some of the hand-dyed bridal fabric and put blue SRE rose and buds with some vines and beads and some fire polished flower Czech glass beads.

Hand Dyed Lace

Today I thought why not try and dye some of the reclaimed lace from the wedding dress I bought! And here are some of the results...I've listed the particular ones in My Etsy Shop for sale too!

Sweet Pea inspired colors! My favorite Sweet Peas are blooming and I've been enjoying them so much that I thought I'd try and recreate the colors this one turned out a light version of the colors. The photos really don't do it justice! I also did some of the fabric too!

All of these you could use as is or unpick the lace and use it separate as an applique.
Since they are polyester they are NON-Washable

Burgundy Rose Brooch

Tonight I sat down for a few hours and made a new Brooch for My Etsy Shop! I tried out some bead embroidery and did my first bead embroidered rose! I love how it turned out and I really like how it has a similar look to bullion roses but with sparkle.

I used burgundy Dupioni Silk with black lace overlay, my new burgundy size 15 seed beads, some bronze stamped metal leaves, 3 vintage rhinestones, and a little feather.

Sneak Peek for Diane

Here is a little sneak peek for Diane!!! She ordered 2 custom brooches from My Etsy Shop one blue and one red. Since Diane and I have tatting in common I put a tiny little tatted butterfly on.

Just finished this one this afternoon! I love red too so I'm really loving this one!

Couple More Brooches

I wanted to take a size reference photo, because I usually show Wendy and her reaction is that they look smaller in person. So I figure I better take photos with something for size reference.

Here is my latest Rose Brooch for my Etsy Shop. It is on a shell pink Dupioni silk and the fabric never photos as well as it looks in person, it looks sorta beige with a soft pinkish tinge. The design is a melanie rose, a spiderweb rose and ribbon stitch buds with ribbon stitch leaves. I also added a pink rhinestone to the center.

I also made this brooch as a gift on champagne Dupioni silk with sweetheart roses, a spiderweb rose, a melanie rose with ribbon stitch leaves and 2 small pink glass pearls. I added a pink bow after I put the brooch together.

Green and Purple Bouquet Brooch

Here is another brooch! My goal was to add 3 new brooches to My Etsy Shop, so I finished this one this afternoon. It may seem fast but really I just focused on doing them since I know I won't have time to work on anything in the coming next few days! On average it takes me 2-3 hours for each of these.
For this brooch I used a mossy green silk fabric, and then added darker dusty purle 7mm sweetheart roses and then some dusty pink 7mm sweetheart roses. I also added 4mm dusty wood rose sweetheart roses. Then I took some dark green silk chenille and added colonial knots all around for greenery and a bow!

Soft Bouquet Brooch

I also made another Brooch last night before bed, so I just took photos and put it up in My Etsy Shop! For this design I tried to be more free with my placement and just started by putting 3 yellow sweetheart roses off to the side and then added feather stitching in variegated green thread. Then I added in some rose buds in 7mm ribbon stitch, with 4mm green ribbon stitch. I added a Melanie Rose in 4mm ribbon and then some bullion tipped lazy daisy leaves. After all this I felt the feather stitch area was a little weak so I added size 15 seed beads! Then I added a glass flower to the center, and it seemed complete.

Rose Heart Brooch

Tonight I thought it would be nice to make another brooch for My Etsy Shop since I finished all my Christmas projects! I'm going to be making a few more too, are there any requests for colors? My natural tendency is for the pinks!
I made it by drawing a heart and filling in the shape with alternating darker/lighter pink 4mm silk ribbon sweetheart roses. Then I added 2mm silk ribbon leaves in ribbon stitch. I used Dupioni Silk overlaid with Lace for the background. The colors seem a big strong in the photo, they really are a bit softer, funny how the camera does that!

New Pincushion

As you can see my old pincushion on the left is getting overwhelmed! LOL I got it as a free gift with an order one time and have been using it ever since. I thought it was time to find a new one but wanted it to be a nice size and usable. I started searching on Etsy and found Pincushion Alley Etsy Shop. I loved this little white petal bowl pincushion and thought it would work nicely and look nice in my workspace. The lady is very sweet and also added in a gift of a bottle cap scissors fob that works nicely on my small fiskors scissors that I use for snipping fabric and trimming.

As you can see it's perfect! It's larger than I expected it to be but I'm so glad it is because I needed it to be that size! When I'm working on a project I like to have lots of needles to choose from and a lot of times have several chenille needles loaded and ready to use as well as some milliners and beading needles at the ready.

Pink Pendant/Necklace

Today I created Pendant/Necklace to put up in My Etsy Shop! I'm currently having a 1 week after Valentine's Day sale on my embroidered jewelery!
I liked creating this one, because I was trying some new things with it like the ruffled flower in the middle made out of 7mm pink silk ribbon and the beaded loops made with size 15 seed beads! I also did a beaded swag with a heart drop! The size of the pendant is 1 1/8 inch, and the heart drop dangling about a 1/4 inch from that.

Heart Brooch

I finished another heart brooch tonight, but the photo just doesn't do it justice! I also put it up in my Etsy Shop. I like how it has a more elegant Victorian feel.

I put this pink bouquet brooch up in My Etsy Shop to see how it goes. This one is my favorite, I've been thinking of keeping it for myself too! LOL I'm out of supplies to create more brooches but I have ordered some from Ribbonsmyth.com. I bought some smaller size ones at WalMart to make some pendents with. I'm going to make a pendent for myself first and then 2 to place in my Boutique.

Here is another addition to My Etsy Shop. Gerard has been making tiny crazy quilt hearts and I put together some embellishments for a little kit. To me this one feels really elegant. It has a cameo button with the shank removed, gold metallic DMC floss, a bit of lace, pin back, and size 15 seed beads in black and white.

This one is more of a pretty floral feel. It has a butterfly motif and some silk buttonhole twist along with size 11 seed beads, lace, and a pin back.

I added more to My Etsy Shop! You know how in Crazy Quilting we are always looking for more texture? Well I always find myself drooling over the specialty yarns but don't want to spend the money on a whole roll just to use a little bit of it. (And they can be expensive) So I got the idea to create fiber packs of it so this way I can have some and share some with you too, without us all breaking the bank!

Here is a packet of yarns I put together and have up on Etsy. I always look for ways to vary my stash but I don't always want a whole ball of the yarn so I cut some 1 yard pieces of some yarns I've bought for my stash.
I love using the fuzzy ones for french knots they add such nice "wanna touch it" texture!

My Etsy Shop

A few months ago I had gotten a really good deal on Dupioni Silk and I stocked up. I got much more than I'll ever use so I decided to open up a Etsy Shop and share it. I have no idea what would be the best way to bundle or what sizes would be the best for projects but I started out by creating 2 different bundles of six 10x10 inch squares of 3 fabrics. I just thought these colors were delicious!
