A Piece of Heritage: Finished

I've finally finished it! If you are curious about the journey you can look back in my blog. Here is a link: A Piece of Heritage
Here is a nice close up for you. Click on any of the photos to see them larger.
I added a gold/pearl button to the top button cluster because I felt I need to add that gold color up there too.
Then I finished off the floral motif by adding seed beads the the center of the spiderweb roses and added sweetheart roses in a sepia type color. I think that finishes it of nicely!
I put it in the frame but not with the glass because it is not a shadow-boxed type of frame.
Now it's all ready to give to my Mother-In-Law!

Melissa, it has been a joy watching this piece come together. Your MIL will love it. The care and love you put into it, along with the beautiful laces, buttons and stitching make this more than an heirloom - it's a work of art. I want to "borrow" your great idea and use it to stitch a tribute to my Grandmother Rose, who died in 1925 giving birth to my father. I have the perfect sepia picture of her to make into a silkie! Thanks for your inspiration! Hugs, Cathy

Melissa, I second all these compliments. Just lovely, not only the frame, stitching but the thought behind the gift. I found a shadowbox type frame at the thrift store. It is not as pretty as yours but.....
I'll have to give it some thought as to who to commemorate for who. Thanks for the inspiration. Someone said the greatest compliment is imitation. Ruby
