Blue Rose Brooch

Here is another Brooch for My Etsy Shop! I used some of the hand-dyed bridal fabric and put blue SRE rose and buds with some vines and beads and some fire polished flower Czech glass beads.

Sneak Peek for Diane

Here is a little sneak peek for Diane!!! She ordered 2 custom brooches from My Etsy Shop one blue and one red. Since Diane and I have tatting in common I put a tiny little tatted butterfly on.

Just finished this one this afternoon! I love red too so I'm really loving this one!

Couple More Brooches

I wanted to take a size reference photo, because I usually show Wendy and her reaction is that they look smaller in person. So I figure I better take photos with something for size reference.

Here is my latest Rose Brooch for my Etsy Shop. It is on a shell pink Dupioni silk and the fabric never photos as well as it looks in person, it looks sorta beige with a soft pinkish tinge. The design is a melanie rose, a spiderweb rose and ribbon stitch buds with ribbon stitch leaves. I also added a pink rhinestone to the center.

I also made this brooch as a gift on champagne Dupioni silk with sweetheart roses, a spiderweb rose, a melanie rose with ribbon stitch leaves and 2 small pink glass pearls. I added a pink bow after I put the brooch together.

Happy New Year and Ornaments

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

I wanted to share a few ornaments, first the one I made on Christmas, I had the idea to make an ornament from a button cover. I embroidered a bullion tipped lazy daisy poinsettia with size 15 gold lined seed beads. Then put it together with an extra layer of felt so that I could bead on the edge of it. Then I beaded with size 15 clear seed beads for the loop and for the bottom and used glass pearls and clear Swarovski crystals. I love how it turned out and I think next year's ornaments will be made this way! You can kind of see the scale for size next to the Christmas lights and the gold ball ornament on the tree.

Next is the wonderful ornament Wendy made for me!!! I love it and I'm so thrilled to have a handmade ornament from a friend I love so dearly. As you can see it goes perfectly on my tree!

Here is a close up photo of the detail of her work! Just look at all that stitching she did! Hours and hours of work filling in that poinsettia and it's stunning! It is truly a special treasure that I will always have to remember of when our tradition started.

Green and Purple Bouquet Brooch

Here is another brooch! My goal was to add 3 new brooches to My Etsy Shop, so I finished this one this afternoon. It may seem fast but really I just focused on doing them since I know I won't have time to work on anything in the coming next few days! On average it takes me 2-3 hours for each of these.
For this brooch I used a mossy green silk fabric, and then added darker dusty purle 7mm sweetheart roses and then some dusty pink 7mm sweetheart roses. I also added 4mm dusty wood rose sweetheart roses. Then I took some dark green silk chenille and added colonial knots all around for greenery and a bow!

Soft Bouquet Brooch

I also made another Brooch last night before bed, so I just took photos and put it up in My Etsy Shop! For this design I tried to be more free with my placement and just started by putting 3 yellow sweetheart roses off to the side and then added feather stitching in variegated green thread. Then I added in some rose buds in 7mm ribbon stitch, with 4mm green ribbon stitch. I added a Melanie Rose in 4mm ribbon and then some bullion tipped lazy daisy leaves. After all this I felt the feather stitch area was a little weak so I added size 15 seed beads! Then I added a glass flower to the center, and it seemed complete.

Rose Heart Brooch

Tonight I thought it would be nice to make another brooch for My Etsy Shop since I finished all my Christmas projects! I'm going to be making a few more too, are there any requests for colors? My natural tendency is for the pinks!
I made it by drawing a heart and filling in the shape with alternating darker/lighter pink 4mm silk ribbon sweetheart roses. Then I added 2mm silk ribbon leaves in ribbon stitch. I used Dupioni Silk overlaid with Lace for the background. The colors seem a big strong in the photo, they really are a bit softer, funny how the camera does that!

Pink Pendant/Necklace

Today I created Pendant/Necklace to put up in My Etsy Shop! I'm currently having a 1 week after Valentine's Day sale on my embroidered jewelery!
I liked creating this one, because I was trying some new things with it like the ruffled flower in the middle made out of 7mm pink silk ribbon and the beaded loops made with size 15 seed beads! I also did a beaded swag with a heart drop! The size of the pendant is 1 1/8 inch, and the heart drop dangling about a 1/4 inch from that.

Pendant

I've been working on this pendant for myself and as a trial to make some for my Etsy Shop. It is similar to the pink bouquet brooch I made since I loved it so much I wanted to try it in pendant form. It's really encrusted and it shimmers wonderfully! I also created the silk ribbon necklace that it is attached to, since the pendant is really lightweight it doesn't stress the silk ribbon necklace. The pendant is made out of a 1 1/8 inch button cover. I used 4mm and 2mm silk ribbon for the design and #11 seed beads in the flowers and #15 seed beads for the bow. The necklace is 4mm silk ribbon with crimp ends and a screw-type clasp.

I put this pink bouquet brooch up in My Etsy Shop to see how it goes. This one is my favorite, I've been thinking of keeping it for myself too! LOL I'm out of supplies to create more brooches but I have ordered some from Ribbonsmyth.com. I bought some smaller size ones at WalMart to make some pendents with. I'm going to make a pendent for myself first and then 2 to place in my Boutique.

SRE Brooches

Here are some more brooches I've been creating! My favorite one is the pink with the lace and bouquet with a beaded bow. I've been chatting with friends at Hand Embroidery and have come to the conclusion of $30 for the button cover brooch and $40 for the CQ heart brooch. I can always change the prices if they are either to high or too low. Now to create my packaging! The ladies also suggested going with my Honeybee's Boutique handcrafted original by Melissa with my Etsy link.
AND I've already have an order for 1 heart brooch and 2 round brooches from a sweet lady, Charita, who is in a couple of Yahoo groups with me! Just being able to create silk ribbon embroideries is the icing on the cake so getting paid for it is sprinkles on top of the icing.

Brooches and Needlework Store

Yesterday Gerard surprised me and took me to a needlework store called 'In Stitches' to check out what embroidery supplies I could find! It's mostly yarns but there was a small section that had embroidery supplies. I bought these threads and some petite seed beads and bugle beads.
The lady who is the owner of the store saw my button cover brooches that I was wearing. I was wearing this one threaded on a ribbon necklace and this one as a brooch on my purse. Anyway she asked how I made them and I told her and she told me that if I'd make some and bring them in that she was sure they would sell since the ladies that come in are always looking for unique pins to put on their knitted purses! So these two 2 inch brooches are to take in to the store.
I have no idea what to price them though and was hoping for some help from you all. How much do you think they are worth? They are made with silk fabric and have silk ribbon embroidery and even some bead embroidery. Each took me about 2-3 hours to complete and the designs are completely my own creation.

Brooch for a Friend

I made this 2 inch button cover brooch for a friend using 3 shades of purple 4mm silk ribbon for the bow and spiderweb roses, and 2mm green silk ribbon for the leaves, and 2 purple Swarovski crystals in the middle of the roses, and a little purple flower bead over hem tape lace and green Dupioni silk.

I really love this button cover I made. It's more like how I did my sister's heart with lace and a bow and roses with beads. I even used 2mm green silk ribbon for the leaves. This is my last one to make for the contest I'm entering.

Button Cover 2

Here is my second 2 inch button cover design. I used all 4mm silk ribbon. A spider-web rose for the middle in burgundy, little running-stitch roses and a few french knots in pink, and ribbon stitch leaves. The pink flowers where way too bright so I made up some strong tea and dotted them let that dry and then I dabbed some coffee on them this morning, that really helped to mute the brightness of the pink color. The button even smells like chai tea! LOL That's the only kind I had to use! It's hard to get the design I want on such a small surface to work with...I usually like to work with about 5 inches so my stitches are usually sized accordingly. Maybe I'll try making tiny flowers to bouquet on my third and final button. I just love lots of vining and scrolling leaves!

Project underway

I've sketched out design ideas for the button cover contest. I've got a few that I like and want to try...I'm starting to make one now and I'm picking out what colors I'll use. I think the hardest part for me is deciding what I'm going to do! The actual embroidery is the fun easy part! I have an idea of what I want to do, but then when I try to sketch it out it doesn't look like what I want! So I'll whip up the current button design I like so I can see what it will end up looking like, and go from there.

Button Cover Contest

Hi All! In one of my SRE groups I'm in a button cover contest and I can make up to 3 buttons to enter. Here is my first button (2 inches diameter) I've made but I was wondering if it's any good. It's supposed to be a Peony Rose but I think it looks more like a water lily or a lotus blossom! The members of the group are the ones who will be voting on who wins the contest. Should I enter this one or try again?
