New Phone Pouch

I made a new phone pouch for my new phone with it's new pink glitter case!  I've made these pouches ever since I learned how from Lilla!  Lilla has a tutorial on her blog for how to make a folded fabric pouch!  They are so easy and cool and you can make them in any size!  I've made tons for cell phones and some for tablets, and then a few random sized pouches for odds and ends.

I went to make one today, and the first one was a little small, so instead I will use it as and odds and ends pouch in my purse it will probably hold lip gloss or something.  Then I made a second one which fit the phone perfectly!

I like doing different things with the flaps, so I tucked in the corners just a little and top stitched them into place.  Then I added a few reclaimed beaded appliques.  The larger one for the random pouch, and a smaller one for my phone since I get it out way more often.

I don't add any closures  to these pouches, they just don't need it most of the time.  I would only do it if I knew whatever it was would need it, or was not staying inside without it.  But for a cell phone, a closure is just annoying and makes you take longer to whip the phone out, this way it just slips right out and back easily, but is protected by the fabric when it's put away!

Snowflake Ballerinas or Ballerina Snowflakes!

I just took some quick photos with my phone of these snowflake ballerina's I've been making!
Ever since I posted about the Nutcracker I've been obsessing just a little bit about the Ballet!  In fact I looked up The Nutcracker Ballet and found it and was able to get tickets to see it preformed by The Los Angelos Ballet!  AND I got orchestra seating and we go see it Sunday!  Woo!!!  I am so excited!  I've never seen a real professional ballet before!  Ever since I saw a great dance recital I've wanted to see one too!

 I had never seen The Nutcracker before either so I did research and found out the plot and watched a few versions on YouTube so when I go I can fully enjoy it all!
Ya gotta love the Dance of the Snowflakes!  And snow does look like it's dancing when it falls so pretty!  It doesn't take much imagination to think of little fluffy ballerinas floating about spinning and leaping!
And don't you think these paper snowflakes are the perfect ballerina skirt?!  Lovely serendipity!

 I had seen some snowflake ballerina ideas on Pinterest one of them was this one: Snowflake Ballerinas
I made them (didn't upload photos though) and then I loved them so much that I had to find other ballerina silhouettes and ideas for cut snowflakes and I made these.  They are a tiny bit smaller than the ones from the above link.  I added lace to all of them because I love lace and I think it just adds a perfect extra special touch to them!

I didn't have any poster board to use for the silhouettes so I traced them onto some heavy duty sketching paper I had and it is stiff enough for them to hold up.  And the snowflakes I just used regular ol' printing paper.
I liked this snowflake cutting patterns link.  I couldn't really follow any of them perfectly, it's really hard to cut through the paper all folded up.  So I just followed some them loosely, doing the best I could and they came out pretty I think!
I want to make a few more to hang on the sides of the wreaths in my windows from the curtains.
I also think a tiny version would look adorable to hang on the tree!  And I think making some out of special printed paper would be pretty too!  Too many ideas flittering about! ;D

Christmas Ornaments: Elf Stocking

 Here is my results of making some Christmas ornaments for this year!!!  I just LOVE them!  I think I could make a whole set for my tree, but as it is it's one for me and the other two are for friends!  I really enjoyed using my vintage lace though!!! It's so yummy!

Baby Gifts!

Here is a little bib that I added a applique strawberry and back-stitched in a "R".

This monogram I just used an air-erasable quilters pen and roughly drew an "R" then I feather stitched in the shape.  Next I added lazy daisy in one color of pink and then a second lazy daisy in the inside of that one in another shade of pink.  Last I added tiny lazy daisy leaves.

Receiving Blanket with Monogram

For this blanket I cut out 3 hearts out of flannel and then appliqued them on using different embroidery stitches.

I used chain stitching, blanket stitch, and running stitch with colonial knots placed in between.

On this bib I cut out a rose from a print and appliqued it into place.  Then I "quilted" in specific spots to define the rose even more.  Then I used an air-erasable quilters pen to write "Rosalee" and back-stitched it in.

I jazzed up a plain white bib, and with a name like Rosalee I couldn't resist a Rose Theme!

These butterflies are iron-on applique's...hey don't knock it, I messed up and in order to fix it the iron-on appliques hid the mess...LOL  Then I added a running stitch flight path.

Easy way to cute-ify a plain onesie!

Small Group Birthday Gift: Cell Phone Pouch

Every year I make a gift for each girl in my small group at church. This year I will be making cell phone pouches for each of them. The common thing will be the fabric, each will have this black and white polka-dot but have differing embellishments to suit their personality. This girl loves vintage right now so I picked a vintage lace and embellished it with embroidery and beads.

Christmas Ornament for Wendy

Every year I have a tradition to make and exchange a Christmas Ornament with Wendy! Here is what I made for her!
I used a red rose print with another red fabric that has tiny white polka dots. Then I added lace and embellishments! Lots of vintage on this heart!

Little Embroidered Pillow

I used a font to create a pattern and used a light box to transfer with a pen onto the flannel fabric. I then back-stitched it using a green perle cotton thread. I even sewed a little pocket on the back for a pouch of lavender to be tucked in.

Cover for my Tablet

I used a polka dot print cotton fabric with some gorgeous coffee colored lace! Now I have a simple yet pretty cover for my tablet!

This flower I made using a couple of purple fabrics, some large hole tulle and some bits of purple lace. I glued a vintage style gem in the center!

Couple of Phone Pouches

These pouches are for friends of mine who are mother and daughter! I think you can guess who's is who's by the appliqué!

Here is a simple sweet little flower made using three different green prints, topped with a fussy cut butterfly!

For this flower I used a purple leopard print mixed with an organza print, and some purple netting. In the center is a silver flower sequin topped with a star sequin and a purple bead.

This flower is made using Black and White prints, a touch of red with some black lace, a pretty black button, and a couple of black feathers!

Pretty Pouches

I whipped up a couple of pouches tonight just for fun. It feels good to have finished something pretty for no other reason than to just do it. I think these will probably end up in my purse, but they could end up little gifts too. LOL

For this flower I used black velvet and lace with some pink and leopard print fabrics, finishing it off with a pink gem button and black feathers.

This flower is made using black velvet and lace with some purple fabrics added in. The center is a folded piece of organza that is tacked into place.

Flower Pin/Hairclip: Hailey

I made this flower with black cotton, black lace, and a shiny silver fabric.  In the center I put a rectangular jewelry part.  I thought that would make a great unusual look and feel.  I love it!  To me it reached "rock star" status!

Cell Phone Pouch

 Lilla has a tutorial on her blog for how to make a folded fabric pouch so I learned how to make it and then created a pouch for my cell phone!!!  I just got a new phone for my birthday and I don't want it to get scratched in my purse so this was a great solution...and pretty! ;)

I used my own measurements for the pouch though so that it would fit my phone well. I used a 25inches long strip by 4 inches wide. The finished size is 5x3.5, my wonderful hubby helped me figure out the math! LOL

 I added a liner of microfiber.  I didn't know any other way other than just sewing up a liner and then blind stitching it into place.  I used a microfiber cloth bought from the 99cents store and cut it up.  I figure this way it's a soft cleaning lining that is a little cushion too.

 Here is the back you can't even see the tiny stitches to sew in the lining.  I wish I had lined up the print better so it would be seen on the back too but I'm not good at guessing those things and it was my first time sewing something like this up.  I'll need practice to be able to do it better.

 On the front I added some vintage laced to the flap as I sewed it up.  Then as a closure I used a bracelet toggle clasp set of a hummingbird and a wreath.  It's perfect not too much trouble to use and it doubles as a pretty embellishment too!
