To get the thread spaces more even what I did was use the method of putting 2 dots on my finger in the recommended measurement, so I didn't have to get out a measuring tool for every one.

Yes I'm using Aleene's stiffening spray to saturate the whole flake and then I touch white glue to all the threads to make them stronger and then pin it and let it dry!

Lovely. I'm always very apprehensive of doing patterns with the spaces between rings and the long picots. But you did great!
