A Hat for my Sister

My sister Joyce is here visiting me! Yay! She brought with her a plain hat for the Tea Party that we embellished! I hand sewed on some of my favorite vintage wedding lace that she also loved and hand sewed on some silk florals that we bought at Micheal's. We also made a bow from ribbons I had in my stash! Isn't it beautiful! Very fitting for my beautiful little sister!

Joyce snuggling Madie!
Madie and China both adore Joyce and she adores them!

Both the hat and your little sis are adorable! That beautiful hat will look smashing at your Oh-So-Elegant Tea Party. What fun you are all going to have! The nice thing about that hat is that not only is it a nice memento from her visit and the party, but it would look nice hanging on anyone's wall. Well, I suppose it would look out of place on say, a teenage boy's wall, but I guess that all depends on the boy, now, doesn't it? LOL! Have fun with your sis!

Thanks TattingChic! She loves to scrapbook and hang pretties on her wall! Oh she wants to try and learn tatting, I hope she is able to she has some doubts if she can but I'm going to do my best to teach it to her in an understandable way!

Oh, that is so neat that she wants to learn tatting. She can do it! I learned to tat when I was 14. I'm sure you'll do a good job teaching. As near as I can tell from your videos you teach in a clear and understandable way.

I started to teach her this afternoon and so far she has already picked it up pretty quickly! I keep encouraging her that it's like when you learn to ride a bike you are a bit wobbly at first and then once you get it down it's easy! So far she already understands the flip and she's just getting used to the first and second half of the stitches and then like me when I first learned how to snug up the stitch once it is flipped. I'm so proud!!!

Joyce looks beautiful! Can I pitch another fit now? vbg!

Tell her that I am proud of her too, I think that the flip is the HARDEST part of learning to tat. It doesn't matter what it looks like at first as long as you can close that ring...LOL! At least that's what I used to tell my students. YAY for Melissa's little sister!
