Tatted Snowflake: Ornament 1

Wanting some more tatting on my tree I got the book Festive Snowflakes and Ornaments for Needle and Shuttle Tatters and I marked out a few that I want to make, the first one is #7 on page 12! I tatted it up in DMC Cebelia thread size 30 in Snow White. I worked the pattern with 2 shuttles instead of the original 1 shuttle + ball and doing SLT, it looks a little different because of that but I still love it!
I'd like to have a good tree full of tatted snowflakes for next year so if anyone knows of any nice small 1 round snowflake patterns with pointy tips please share the link!

Your snowflake turned out beautifully and just so happens to be one of my favorites. Great job!

Have you seen Lene Bjorn's little booklet of 24 tatted snowflakes? It is a wonderful book.

Head on over to Tatskool's blog to see several of the flake patterns from this book. She recently challenged herself to tat one a day for the month of December. She tatted a few of her favorites in several different color combinations so you can see how they look different ways.

There's a beaded flake pattern on my web site here:

You can replace the beads with picots. there is another one on my blog from last year at:
http://sharonstattedlace.blogspot.com/2008/10/snowflake-suncatcher-pattern.html
It's 2 rounds, but works up quick. I did it with and without beads although it's the beaded one that's shown. There was another one this year but it's 2 rounds and not really pointy. I am half way through creating a book of 30 snowflake designs, bu so far have started all of them with a small centre motif and then added outer rounds. Maybe I should wrap my brain around some one row designs.

Thank you Isdihara! I hopped on over to Tatskool's blog and they are really pretty snowflakes there were a few that I'd like to create and it was nice to have her commentary on some of them too! I looked up the book and it looks like Amazon has the best price but it's temporarily out of stock so I put it on my wish list for later!

Very pretty! I purchased this book, but haven't looked at it yet. I was too caught up in finishing Christmas projects! I only managed to tat one snowflake for my tree this year... so sad... I wanted a tree full of tatted flakes! Maybe next year...

To cute...makes me wish I knew how to do tatting. But I can barely follow a simple crochet/knitting pattern so I'll pass, LOL. I know this new year christmas I would love to do a Homemade/Old fashion like Christmas. So I'm trying to find cute crochet holiday decor patterns to start working on. Good Luck on making snowflakes for your tree...it'll be to pretty

Tori, I can't follow crochet or knitting either! LOL The surprising thing is most tatting patterns are easier to understand and have diagrams. Plus the fact that there is only 1 stitch!!! LOL
