It's a pretty easy and fun little heart to do! I really enjoyed tatting it up!
Oh and I got a proper stiffener "Aleene's Stiffen Quick". Then I just added a bail to the top picot where the last join is made.
I was given permission by Birgit Phelps to share the SweetHeart pattern rewritten for Needle Tatting so here it is!

Great pattern and beautiful work. Thanks for the info about the stiffener, too.
Melissa, you're doing really great with your tatting and re-writing the patterns. You'll be designing totally on your own very shortly. By the way, that's my favorite stiffner.
I just had to leave you a note and let you know how much I appreciate your site. I have been wanting to learn to tat for years, but my first experience 5 years ago was with a shuttle. Needless to say that went bad and discouraged me. Then I came across a video the other day of a gal that did needle tatting and thought I'd give it a try. So exploring around the internet I did learn a little bit and thought it seemed MUCH easier that my shuttle experience. :) Then I searched for some patterns and came across your site yesterday and saw this heart and JUST HAD TO TRY IT. I tried several times and could not get the clover rings to lay flat together UNTIL I decided to add a few joins. TADA!! I wish I could share a photo with you of how my heart came out. I am tickled to death with it and because of your generosity sharing this beautiful pattern I am now HOOKED on tatting more so than I am with crochet. I LOVE IT! Thank you so much.
