Well I learned the next method in needle tatting and created this medallion! I think I'm going to turn it into a pendant, but I could use it in CQ too, I still haven't made up my mind.The method is the ring and chain method, and you do it by working with thread "off the ball" which is using thread still attached to the ball instead of cutting of an amount and working with only that.
